Germans in the British Army? (No, Not the Hessians)

It's a common misconception that the British Redcoats who fought during the American Revolution were exclusively English. In reality, they recruited from all over Great Britain - Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and even parts of mainland Europe, and in particular, Germany. And no, I'm not referring to the Hessians - I'm talking about German nationals actually donning the red coat and serving in the actual British army as opposed to the standing armies of their own German provinces. This is a topic that isn't widely talked about, mainly because not many historians have bothered to write about it. In fact, one of the only people to actual delve into who these soldiers actually were happens to be none other than noted Revolutionary War historian Don Hagist, who wrote an extensive article on the subject, which you can view here: http://www.revwar75.com/library/hagis... This article was the main inspiration behind my decision to make this video, and as such, I cite it pretty extensively throughout, but I do draw from other sources as well, which I also provide citations for in the video. I do hope that by making this video, it will encourage others to do more research on this particular topic, themselves. Perhaps with a little bit of persistence, we can shed new light onto who these largely-forgotten men actually were. Enjoy!
