Camino de Santiago Catalán, Cami de Sant Jaume, El Port de la Selva - Montserrat

Camino Catalán, Camí de Sant Jaume, Camino de Girona (many names) starts from the mediteranien coast. You can start from different places; El Port de la Selva (or nearer the french border), from Barcelona or Montserrat. In one of its two branches it connects with the Camino Francés in Logroño, and in the other, with Camino Aragonés and then onto Camino Francés. On some part this camino also coincide with Camino Ignaciano that ends in Manresa. We started in El Port de la Selva, walked through Girona, Vic and Manresa and stopped one stage after Montserrat. Some other towns: Figueres, Báscara, Anglés, Amer, Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Sant Esteve d'en Bas, Cantonigròs, L'Esquirol, Roda de Ter, Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer, L'Estany, Santa Maria d'Oló, Artés, Navarcles. After 20 years of camino walking, I would rank this one high on my list. There are nice landscapes, varied terrain, lots of interesting old culture, some nice, old towns (big and small) and then of course Montserrat. The marking is good in some parts, and not so good in other parts. I would recommend GPS. Accommodation can be a challenge in late October, but we managed well even though we are 70 years old and therefore don't walk long stages.
