SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel ➝ bit.ly/HockeyPlayersClub The snapshot has quickly become one of the most popular shots in the NHL where elite players are able to load and release their snapshots incredibly quick to elude shot-blocking defenders and to change the angle of their shot to improve their chances of scoring on the game's best goaltenders. Snapshots are quicker than a wrist shot and more accurate than a slap shot. The most important attribute of a good snapshot is the quickness with which you can release the puck. Tips: - The snapshot is released from the middle to the tip of the blade. - I like to pull the puck into a position that feels comfortable with the toe of my stick. - Top hand away from the body - Bottom hand strong to exert force downward to flex the stick - Let the flex pop on the release - Short and quick follow through with a strong bottom hand - When practicing, look when you’re shooting Drills: - Flex the stick and let it release/pop without a puck - Stationary shooting square to the net - Shoot around a defender & change the angle of your shot - Practice shooting the puck from different positions around your body If you have any questions, shoot us an email at [email protected].
