Alipurduar to Siliguri Train Journey || Dooars Train ride

Train journey from Alipurduar Junction to Siliguri via the Dooars train route ( New Jalpaiguri - Alipurduar Jn. - Samuktala Road line ) is an incredible experience. We took the Alipurduar to Siliguri Intercity express from Alipurduar Junction Railway station for this journey. The route we covered was part of the New jalpaiguri (NJP) - Alipurduar Jn. - Samuktala road line of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) Zone of Indian Railways. This line was build after India's independence and partition in 1947 under the 'Assam Rail Link' project to connect Assam with the rest of India by Railways. Alipurduar junction station is older still as it existed from 1901, as a part of the erstwhile 'Cooch Behar Railway' line connecting Lalmonihat to Jayanti. The Siliguri intercity express departs Alipurduar junction station at 06:00 hrs and it takes around four and a half hours to reach Siliguri after stopping at places like Rajabhatkhawa, Kalchini, Hasimara, Madarihat, Dalgaon, Binnaguri, Banarhat, Nagrakata, Chalsa, New Mal Jn. (Malbazar) , Oodlabari, Bagrakote, Sivok (Sevoke) and Gulma. During this trip, the train passes through beautiful places like the Buxa Tiger reserve (wildlife sanctuary), Dima river bridge, Tea gardens of Dooars, Torsa river, Jaldapara National Park, Diana river, Murti river, Sevoke, teesta river, tista coronation bridge and Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. The trains also pass through two tunnels which are situated between sevoke and Bagrakote. The trains stops at three stations in Siliguri, first it reaches Siliguri Junction. then stops at Siliguri Town Station before ending its journey at New Jalpaiguri ( NJP ).
