#kunekune #piglets #raisingpigs It's time to welcome pigs to our farm! After two years of beginning our homestead here on this acreage we have welcomed bourbon red turkeys, chickens, horses, ducks, and now KUNEKUNE PIGS! We planned to welcome pigs in the 2024 year but had the opportunity to bring home two gilts who were exactly the age and colouring we were dreaming of! Our plan for the pigs is to keep our breeder girls and acquire a boar later in the spring. We will raise these kunekunes up to adults to breed. This will allow us to raise piglets for eventual meat harvest as well as sell kunekune piglets. Kunekune are a heritage breed who are incredibly smart and docile. They are also a wonderful source of meat for our goals of being more sustainable here on our homestead.
