Minnesota Commercial Railroad Midway Yard in St. Paul

This is video from around 8am Tuesday, August 10, 2010, taken from the Pierce Butler bridge overlooking the Minnesota Commercial (MNNR) Midway yard. There are walking platforms on both sides of the bridge. I had just missed the Amtrak. We start by looking west towards the hazy Minneapolis skyline and then panning over the north side of the yard. At 0:39 we take a look at the south side where there is a string of box cars to the left and tankers to the right. Locomotive 1982, a General Electric B23-7, is coming our way from near the Amtrak station. A front end loader is filling two gondolas with gravel throughout the video. There is a pile on the south side of the bridge, and the raised dirt loading platform is on the north side of the bridge. At the end of the video, the gondolas are repositioned, though from the camera angle, we don't see the front end loader doing the work of moving the cars. Also, during much of the video, we see engine 42, a General Electric SF30B still wearing much of its paint scheme from its days on the Santa Fe, getting cars together for the Hugo run (referred to as "Job 19" by YouTube user volodia07). The Hugo job is, of course, of most interest to me as it comes into my neck of the woods and I have blogged and written about the history of the old Northern Pacific Skally Line extensively: http://rrxing.chadleighkluck.net/myta...
