In 1972, Caterpillar was struggling to position themselves on the hydraulic excavator market, a sector mainly dominated by manufacturers such as Link-Belt, Bucyrus-Erie or Liebherr and Poclain, in Europe. That year, Caterpillar released the first excavator 100% built and designed by the brand, the 225. Two years later, CAT had 3 excavators in the line-up, including the 235, added in 1973, and the 245, added in 1974. The 200-Series set the pace for all Caterpillar excavators yet to come... #caterpillar #excavator
