Samurai Warriors 5 - Nobunaga's Path | Battle of Nagashino (Part 39)

We're finally making progress again back in Nobunaga's Path. We've also hit the time skip...er, is this really a time skip? Nobunaga and Mitsuhide get their mature appearances but I don't actually think any significant amount of time passed, at least no more than during other parts of the game. And it's not like anyone else ages. Well, whatever. With their mature appearances, Nobunaga and Mitsuhide both gain alterations to their movesets, which is a nice touch. Nobunaga's Odachi attacks for example become more "Demon King-y" and his musou changes, using the Sosan Samonji to attack. I can never figure out what moveset the game expects Nobunaga to have, because the game will switch back and forth between him using either the Katana or the Odachi in cutscenes. His mature form appears to lean more towards using the Katana, based on the musou, but then when you fight Nobunaga, he's always using the Odachi no matter whether he's matured or not. I do wish he just got a new moveset all to himself, because that's exactly what they did with Mitsuhide. Mitsuhide gets a brand new moveset we haven't seen yet, the Blade and Matchlock. Because of that I never bothered to check if his Katana moveset actually changes any in his mature form. No one else uses this moveset, so I sure as hell wasn't going to have him keep using a weapon that several characters use. The Blade and Matchlock uses, well, a sword and a gun. So it has ranged attacks incorporated into its moveset. I found it a bit lacking because it doesn't have many Charge combos and the C5-C8 repeat the same animation, similar to the Twin Swords. (Although not as bad, Twin Swords repeat C5-C10 because it wants to be the most repetitive moveset in the franchise's history.) It does however have access to an Ultimate Skill called Sakura Serenade that is probably the best one in the game for racking up KOs. The user fires a spray of bullets in a 180 degree in front of them and it can often clear the entire screen of enemies. Incredibly satisfying. As for the stage itself, it feels the least like Nagashino from just about any other Nagashino I've played. There's much less set up about trying to get the Takeda to charge into the muskets and get slaughtered. There's even a time when the Takeda calvary attacks Katsuie and rather than fall back to the musket line, he stays and fights ahead of them for...some reason. The muskets don't even auto-kill any of the cavalry, you have to do it all yourself. The most that happens is (Not) Shingen is flustered by them. After the battle, everyone talks like "Nobunaga and Mitsuhide are so different now" but I like to think they're just weirded out by the fact they actually aged when no one else in the game does. Yes, Ieyasu stays a shota the entire game, even when we have a stage that revolves heavily around his SON later. Just going to mention here that Spirit of Sanada had 7 characters that aged. Hell, some of them aged twice.
