From the Archives: Last Week of the Sydney Tramway Network Feb. 1961

From the SPER archives. Footage taken by museum founding father Ben Parle of the final week of Sydney tramway operations in February 1961. Starting with the final day of enthusiast's tours - which saw the derailment of museum car R 1740 at Moore Park (the last tram derailment in Sydney until Variotrams 2106 and 2105 in 2013) - and ending with the final tram convoy to LaPerouse and return to Randwick on the 25th February 1961. Clips from this film can also be seen in several chapters of the STM film "Shooting Through".
