Ali Berkman, 1985’te İstanbul’da doğdu. Ortaokul yıllarında babasının aydınlatma armatürleri üreten atölyesinde ışık ile tanıştı. 2008 yılında Yeditepe Üniversitesi Elektrik Elektronik Mühendisliği Bölümünden mezun oldu. 2009-2014 yılları arasında bağımsız aydınlatma tasarımı konusunda bir firmada görev aldıktan sonra 2014 yılında ONOFF Aydınlatma Tasarımı’ nı kurdu. ONOFF ekibiyle birlikte Türkiye, Kazakistan, Kongo, Senegal, Katar ve Dubai’ de farklı ölçek ve tipolojide 80’nin üzerinde projenin aydınlatma tasarımını üstlendi. 2017 yılında Londra’da aydınlatma tasarımı alanında düzenlenen Lighting Design Awards 40under40 ödülü kapsamında seçilen 40 kişi arasında yer aldı. Halihazırda Haliç Üniversitesi ve Fatih Sultan Mehmet Üniversitesi' nde Mimarlık ve İç Mimarlık Bölümü’ nde öğretim görevlisi olarak aydınlatma tasarımı üzerine ders vermektedir. In 2008, he graduated from Yeditepe University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. After working in a company on independent lighting design consultancy between 2009-2014, he founded ONOFF Lighting Design in 2014. ONOFF team was responsible for the lighting design of over 80 projects at different scales and typologies in countries such as Turkey, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Congo, Senegal, Qatar and Dubai. In 2017 he was among the 40 designers chosen within the scope of the ‘’40under40’’ Lighting Design Awards, which was held in London in the field of lighting design. He is currently teaching lighting design as a lecturer at the Architecture and interior Architecture Department of Haliç University and Fatih Sultan Mehmet University.
