USSPACECOM supports Crew-3 launch to International Space Station

NASA and SpaceX launched Crew-3 to the International Space Station in November 2021, and United States Space Command’s deputy command surgeon, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Melissa Runge, traveled to Kennedy Space Center in Florida to support the human space flight mission. Runge spearheaded efforts to study the effects of space travel on the human body. Joined by Air Force Reserve Lt. Col. and Dr. Anil Menon, SpaceX’s medical director and 1st Air Force’s Individual Mobilization Augmentee flight surgeon, the team worked on console to monitor Crew-3 astronauts as they made their journey. Menon was named one of NASA's newest astronaut candidates in December. Back at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, Air Force Col. Ingrid Ford, USSPACECOM’s command surgeon, lead a joint operational force to spearhead rescue and recovery efforts of all human space flight missions.
