I think any man who is obsessed with wives being submissive to their husbands is a HUGE red flag 🚩 My husband and I NEVER had a conversation about this. I naturally followed his lead after he showed me time and time again how I could trust him with my whole heart. Marriage should be a team effort. A healthy marriage should be filled with love, compassion, respect, commitment and empathy. I think the biggest thing that is important in marriage though, is not looking at it as transactional. Not looking at it as, “What can I get?” Now, I am not an expert. I am just a mom sharing her experiences in hopes that it helps others. But I will say this, in our 12 years of marriage (and 5 babies later) it has never been a power struggle. We both deeply care for one another and always want to hear the input and feelings each of us has. I think this whole “wives submit to your husbands just cause he’s the ‘man’” narrative, stems from toxic purity culture where a higher expectation is placed on women than men. Ladies, a real man who loves you and cherishes you and would give everything to protect you, would not want your voice to be silenced. A real man who loves you wants ALL of you. He loves you more than for what you look like. He loves you through sickness (this includes pregnancy and postpartum) and in health. You CHOOSING to follow his lead is only because he has proven to you with his ACTIONS that he can be trusted and he is holding your heart in his hands with the greatest tenderness and care ❤️ I will say this though, if there is an area I am more knowledgeable in then yes of course I will take the lead on that. This video wasn't to say my husband makes every single decision. I make final decisions every day that revolve around the well being of our family and home. We each have different strengths and are knowledgeable in different areas. The beauty of our partnership is bringing all of that to the table. This video isn't saying he makes all the decisions. If that's what you got from it, then I suggest you rewatch it and read the caption. This was about trusting in his leadership. A good leader knows they don't know everything and rely on those they trust. They don't do everything nor do they make the decision on everything. But they do help with the direction of things, and I trust the direction my husband takes. ❤️ I understand if this dynamic isn't for everyone.
