The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live - Season 1 - Official Intro (Episode 1.01)

The day is finally here! After over 5 years of waiting, the much anticipated premiere of ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ has arrived, and with it comes this new official title sequence! Overall, the titles consist of many shots and images relating to both the characters of Rick & Michonne, as well as the CRM. These said visuals are glitching & distorted in appearance, giving the intro an old, recorded feel and aesthetic. The intro begins with the standard ‘AMC | AMC+ Presents’ credit, shown over the silhouettes of Rick & Michonne (taken from TWD: Episode 8.01 - ‘Mercy’). Following this are shots of the destroyed bridge from Season 9, at which point both Andrew Lincoln & Danai Gurira are credited together (similarly to how Lauren Cohan & Jeffrey Dean Morgan were credited in the intro for ‘Dead City’). The remainder of the intro features more shots in this vein, as well as CRM documents and altered maps of the USA, on which the three Alliance cities of Omaha, Portland and the Civic Republic in Philadelphia are clearly shown. Additionally visible on this map is a radioactive symbol over the state of Texas, creating the impression that many events and locations seen throughout the larger TWDU (in shows like ‘Fear TWD’ and ‘TWD: World Beyond’) will come into play and factor into things over the course of ‘The Ones Who Live’. The main theme for ‘TOWL’ is a shorter, modified version of the soundtrack that played in the final moments of TWD’s series finale, 11.24 - ‘Rest in Peace’ (over the montage of characters repeating the ‘’We’re the ones who live’’ mantra). This version of the soundtrack starts off quiet and gradually builds into the more full blown track heard in the finale, and at the end of the theme (at the point where the ‘TOWL’ logo appears), the ending note of the original TWD theme can be heard. Three main cast members are credited in the main titles for ‘TOWL’, as listed below: - Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes - Danai Gurira as Michonne Grimes - Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis/Anne Stokes The remaining main cast are then credited directly after the end of the titles.
