udad papad or urad dal papad as it is called in hindi and uddina bele happala as it is called in kannada...is a savoury crunchy and crispy fried side dish for the Indian lunch or dinner recipes. It is usually consumed with rice and sambar. Even the starters are prepared using these papads...like masala papads. These udad/ urad dal papads are also used in making papad curry, or papad sabzi. These uddina happalas or urad papads are made during summers...so they can be categorised under summer recipes. These papads can be easily made and stored and shelf life is for six months.
