Napoli & Maradona, Maradona & Napoli. Perhaps no other person is worshiped as strongly in Napoli as Maradona. Today we are bringing you on a tour of Napoli where we visit some iconic locations that portray the devotion Neapolitans have to Diego Armando Maradona, the legendary soccer/football player that spent 7 years in Napoli playing for SSC Napoli. He ultimately won two National Championships (Serie A), one European Cup (UEFA Cup), and one Italian Cup (Coppa Italia) cementing his status as the greatest player who ever lived. Walking around Napoli, you cannot escape his image and the love Neapolitans have for Maradona is evident everywhere you look: from street art and graffiti to flags and jerseys hung from clotheslines. More recently, Neapolitans have started to commercialize Maradona's figure. This is seen in the hundreds of souvenir stands selling all kinds of memorabilia and even food an drinks. Did you know you can get a "Maradona Spritz?" For this tour of Maradona and Napoli we decided to visit three important pieces of street art dedicated to the greatest football player Napoli has ever seen: - Maradona's face on the skyscraper in Centro Direzionale, near the main train station of Napoli, in Piazza Garibaldi. This graffiti was made by the Neapolitan street artist Jorit, famous worldwide for his Human Tribe project. - The Two Maradonas inside the tunnel in Vico dei Maiorani that can be accessed from the intersection between Via dei Tribunali and Piazza dei Girolomini. - Maradona in the Quartieri Spagnoli, probably the most famous piece of Neapolitan street art. This work can be found in the Quartieri Spagnoli, easily reachable from the famous Via Toledo. We also visit a very particular coffee shop that has on display a piece of Maradona's hair.
