India’s Economic Aspirations: A Conversation with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Government of India on October 25. The event with Minister Sitharaman will begin with remarks followed by a moderated session led by Dr John J. Hamre from 5-6 pm. The event will be followed by a private reception for participants from 6-7 pm. Minister Sitharaman has held several of the Indian Cabinet’s most significant portfolios including Minister of Defence; Minister of State for Commerce and Industry; and Minister of State for Corporate Affairs. She has held the Ministry of Finance since May 2019. Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the spring 2024 election she outlined the government’s key development priorities in the July 23, 2024 Budget Speech delivered to Parliament.
