Memories of West Bromwich High Street from 96 year old Ernie Timmins

Meet Ernie Timmins, 96 years old. Ernie worked at the Gas Showroom on West Bromwich High Street in the late 1930s, before joining the forces in February 1941 when it got destroyed in action. Here he recalls his story as part of the Black Country Living Museum's call out for memories to inform the recreation of the West Bromwich Gas Showroom. Listen to the longer version of his story here:    • Видео   By 2022 we will have recreated the Gas Showroom here at the Museum as part of our 1940s-60s town. Right now we are looking for stories around this building to add to Ernie's memories. We will use them to build an accurate picture of what the Showroom looked and felt like. This building has so many stories to tell, so if you or anyone you know remembers the Gas Showroom between 1940s-60s, please get in touch via 0121 557 9643 or [email protected]. For more information on our plans for the showroom and the project as a whole, please visit bclm.com/myblackcountrystory. ------------------------------------------------------ About the Museum Established in 1978, Black Country Living Museum is one of the UK’s leading open-air museums.
