Wide of house COUPLE BUILD HOUSE OUT OF 20,000 BOTTLES A retired boxing coach has built a house out of 20-thousand bottles in a small village, 170 kilometres (105 miles)from the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius. When Vitautas Janiskevicius first moved to the village of Mediekiskis, he lived in a small cottage, before being struck with the idea of building his very own, unique home. But instead of using wood or bricks as his neighbours had done, Vitautas decided to use bottles. Ten years and a few thousands empty bottles later, he has nearly reached his goal. "The first step was to work out this idea, to build the house with bottles. People usually build a house with wood. I thought I could do it. After all I did not know what to do with the empty bottles. So I decided I could use them to build walls," Vitautas Januskevicius told AP Television. "One day he called me and showed how he was laying the first six or seven rows of bottles. That's how it started. I realised the house could be fine. So I told him to go ahead," said his wife Danyuta. Now, even before the house is finished, the former boxing coach is pondering an extension to his new home. The only thing that stands in his way is collecting enough bottles to finish the job.
