Cloverdale Mine. Westcliffe, CO. Solo.

Cloverdale Mine is the bumpiest trail I've ever been on no question. I spent just shy of 8hrs filming it, i cut a LOT of clips because honestly they were all the same, basketballs everywhere for the whole thing. I spent the night about a mile in but just watch the first clip and that's what it was like. That night was absolutely freezing and I only got about 3hrs of real sleep. I know I usually drive slow but even editing this I was thinking "damn was I tired" haha. I am missing Balman Reservoir because someone had a tent set up and I didn't see anyone around to ask if my drone would be a bother so that'll be a nice surprise if you go there. Shortly after that the wind became insane which was a huge issue for smooth drone shots and even a couple regular ones you can tell it's vibrating. The trail is jarring but totally worth it, great views can be seen through the burnt forest most of the time. Once at the top you come to a very interesting abandoned mining area. I saw someone there and asked him if he lived there because it's kind of weird how they left everything, cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles, magazines, beds, it was crazy. The actual mine on the hill is closed off currently even to hiking but I was able to fly my drone up there. This was the most extreme wind I've flown in so not my best cinematography as it was a real get-in-get-back situation. I got the tip on this trail from a dirt bike rider I met on Antero who had a flat I aired up and he warned me I should get there soon before it all collapses. If you look up Cloverdale Mine you'll see what it used to look like. Recently the front of the top level has collapsed and no longer displays its title. Hopefully it and the rest of the buildings make it through winter as signs stated they were trying to restore the preserve the buildings. If you go there PLEASE don't take or move anything and just absorb this piece of mining history. Fall Again (Instrumental) by Jonas Schmidt & henrikz   / jonasschmidtof.  . I don't know what the deal is, they look identical to me too but read the reviews- they're bad. I've been using these Staun's for over a year and never had a problem, I air down a lot. Set them at the trail so your tires will be the same temp when you get to the trail next time. My Compressor: https://amzn.to/2PuerLH My Microphone: https://amzn.to/2P1S3sb My microphone is the worst good mic you can get. BUT don't be fooled, it's a very good mic. Picture me getting in my car for the 50th time after I just ran up and down a hill... for the 50th time. Do you see me disconnecting my mic and gingerly setting it in a case? No. It stays connected to the tripod, gets thrown into my plastic cargo area and bounces around with other heavy items until the next one. It gets terrible interference from WiFi so you must make sure that it's off on your camera or phone. If you are trying to use this with your phone you need to get a TRS to TRRS cable which RODE makes. This is required because your phone will think the mic is headphones. My Tripod: https://amzn.to/2o8h6hL I went through 2 tripods in 1 month, a $20 and a $30. Buy it nice or buy it thrice. This thing gets opened and closed MANY times per week in rain, snow, dirt, and even in the middle of rivers. I love the 2-stage legs so i can make it real low in 2sec instead of shortening all the legs. My Drone: https://amzn.to/2KUGWAp My Drone ND Filters: https://amzn.to/2MHV0R0 The filters are a must. Again I have the worst ones and I am still very pleased. My first use was video #35 and I think it is very apparent. Illinois Gulch (#34 obviously) has a completely white sky, way too much blue. I'm still not even good about selecting the right one or changing them out but it's 10x better than nothing.
