In this video tutorial we show you the heavy mineral separation process (e.g., separation of zircon, baddeleyite, rutile, monazite etc.) that we use in our research group at the Institute of Earth Sciences at Heidelberg University. The advantages of the method we use are that we avoid using common machines for mineral separation and heavy liquids - instead we only use a hammer and a water panning technique for density separation.
