Long-Distance Kill of Yellow Jackets

Almost got stung when I inadvertently stirred up a yellow jacket nest. Video shows dumping a dose of Sevin dust at the entrance to the hive. Indications are that the treatment should wipe them out in approximately 24 hours. Rather than uploading another video with no activity (hopefully), I'll post results here. Results as follows: Complete kill! Not a single yellow jacket to be seen this morning. We had some rain and it probably helped to get some of the Sevin down the hole. Can't see doing this with gasoline, but at night a bucket of soapy water kills, as well. I never seemed to make the trek to the site of the nest at night, so the Sevin treatment was tried with great success. Later in the day after treatment, when the temperature had risen, I found some bees still using the hive's hole in the ground. So, I gave it another shot of Sevin and will check on the status again. One the second day since treatment, I peered at the hive's entrance hole and saw a single bee enter. Obviously, the chemical is working but it appears to take longer to exact a total kill. I will end the drama today when I dump a bucket of soapy water down the chute. Well, hours later there was still slight action, but I managed to get the multi-flora rose cleared in the cool morning before there was any activity. Now, I'm heading back there with another dose of Sevin and the "spear." Dang it! I put enough Sevin onto the hole, it became totally plugged. Another check to be performed today.
