Missing its tyres, this model looks diminutive to how it should appear complete. The Unimog has been around since 1948 and has been a part of Mercedes-Benz since 1951. The 406 generation this casting is based on appeared in 1963 and lasted through until 1989. It was Unimog's first medium duty offering with a more powerful engine allowing it to complete more testing tasks. It is a great casting and one I enjoyed returning to its former glory. I like the tan and turquoise colour scheme, though I'm less keen on the later blue body and red base variation that carried over to the Superfast era. The casting captures the short, tall and narrow dimensions really rather well I think.
