The British Pound Sterling fell to it's lowest level against the US dollar ever last night after the back to back announcements by the UK government of an energy price cap/bailout package and a series of tax cuts. This sent borrowing costs for the country through the roof as investors now expect the Bank of England to intervene with a series of massive interest rate hikes to fight inflaiton. This is how an energy crisis becomes a currency crisis becomes a full blown financial meltdown.
