“TV Organs” is a tape I’ve been intending to upload for about… let’s just say two weeks now. Technically even further back than that, so long as you’re willing to interpret my procrastination and ineptitude as “intent”. I’ve got my reasons for perpetually delaying the release of this video, be it due to wanting the video to be posted closer to the tape’s April 14th release – for the fear of “jumping the gun”, so to speak –, or just feeling outright incapable of representing the band’s music with my shitty, tired lexicon, but none of said reasons are particularly relevant at this point. The only thing you should be focusing on right now is Vintage Crop, because believe me: They. Are. Fucking. Incredible. Recorded by Billy Gardner (of the always-incredible Ausmuteants, Living Eyes, and Cereal Killer) in “Tyler’s Kitchen” – “Tyler” being a member of this Geelong-based rock group, “Kitchen” being… well, I guess a kitchen –, Vintage Crop’s “TV Organs” is an outright brilliant display of jittery, shambolic garage rock, devious hooks, captivating dynamics, and angular musicianship abound. Structured into melodies best described as partly puerile, mostly masterful, and of course, persistently infectious, this tape is a 22 minute-long catalogue of frenzied rock birthed through melancholy and summery vibes – I pretty much just fuckin’ melt whenever the chorus of “Sense” rolls up, moments like that make this debut EP worthy of all sorts of adoration.
