Two forest defenders were arrested today in Tasmania protesting against the logging of old growth forests nearby to Lake St Clair. The forest defenders are getting this logging that is out of sight and out of mind right into the public arena so the world can see the shameful loss of vast tracts of native forests, rainforests and unique old growth ecosystems. We are calling for protection of all native forests. Native forests play a critical role in mitigating climate change and slowing the rate of wildlife extinction, however here in Tasmania the government ignores the climate emergency and global extinction crisis and sanctions ongoing forest destruction for woodchips and timber for the controversial Borneo logging giant, Ta Ann.
