Programme Information … Nerys DLI – Moments of Being 1988 The Arts Council always held the work Nerys was doing at the DLI in the greatest respect and Michael Harrison at the south Bank Centre gave his full backing to a project that was very dear to Nery’s Heart. Her idea was to put together a collection of work by a wide range of artists the only link being that each one held and showed that “Moment of Being” when the artist felt something strongly and it was transferred through the work to the viewer. She travelled the length of the UK to collect works from a wide range of collection with the physical help of Richard Kilburn then Curator of Jarrow Hall. She said that quite often she would arrive at a gallery at the end of a long days travelling physically exhausted so when she DID enter an exhibition of work the ones that REALLY had something to say stood out for her. It is an incredible and unique show – dates/names were not important it was what the work communicated that mattered. Nerys asked me to cover not only the making of the show but the workshops that accompanied it – it was a huge pleasure to shoot and edit.
