Tensions remain high on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside where city workers continue to bring the Hastings encampment to a close. Vancouver police and city crews started removing the encampment, consisting of hundreds of tents and structures, earlier in the week. In a statement, staff said this move comes after “a steady deterioration in public safety and an increase in fires in the area and the encampment zone.” On day four of the decampment, not everyone was willing to pack up and move in the pouring rain.
