Avery’s early years on Earth were like heaven to her. She got everything she wanted, and her parents were rich due to working for a high ranking business called “FTF”. Avery always wondered what it stood for, but her father and mother never specified, and kept everything about their work top secret. Even though Avery was never suspicious of this, she still couldn’t help but wonder what their job was like. Every evening her parents came home around seven o’ clock, and she always asked, “What did you guys do today?” It was two years later when she didn’t have to ask her parents that question, she answered it herself. One day a strange, tall man was spotted in the living room with some papers, and her parents. “What were they doing?” Avery murmured under my breath. “Listen here, I could give you billions for this one child! This company has been in construction and testing for years now, and we have finally the right equipment for the job. This company can do things that others can’t. It will change lives!” There was a pause, “And, I could even give you a job in this company that pays double your current salary.” Avery’s father interrupted, “Look, I don’t think we can do this that is our own child-” The strange man spoke over him, “Look, it’s double or nothing. If you don’t take this job I will not hesitate to fire you. So, what’s it gonna be?” Avery’s parents looked at each other in disbelief, and nodded. “Fine.” Avery’s father spoke. “We will do the deal. But I want her alive by the time this project is over.” “How long will this be for?” Avery’s mom added. “Until she’s eighteen is what I can say. After that she’s all yours.” He released a small chuckle, her parents signed some contracts, and the next thing she knew, Avery was at a strange building. Her parents said she had to get a few vaccinations, and that she would be back home in no time. What a lie that was.
