Randomly Assign Names To Groups In Excel - Using RAND, RANK, ROUNDUP And COUNTIF (Part 1)

We assign each of the names in our table to a random group, based on the group size that we select. To do this, we first assign each person a random number using the RAND function. We then rank each random number from largest to smallest using the RANK function. Following this, we divide each person's ranking by the the size of the group, rounding this figure up using the ROUNDUP function. This returns the group that each person belongs to. Finally, we use the COUNTIF Function to check how many people are in each group. In the next video, we will cover how to use VBA to display the names representing each group.
