Tech #2 Disc Brake Rotor and Pads Replacement

Hey fellow shredders! This time we are looking at a recent disc rotor and brake pad replacement for a Trek Stache that I had been working on and also doing Bike Check video. The reason I decided to change out those parts is because the rotor and pads had become contaminated with mineral oil at some point and once that penetrates, it will not go away and the squealing was horrible! Only thing to do at that point is to replace. The job is simple enough and requires mainly allen keys, pliers, and probably T25 for rotors bolts, plus thread lock if re-using bolts to mount on wheel. One thing I did not mention in video is figuring out which types of pads to replace. This is figured out by looking at the model number of your calipers, most will have that on the side somewhere. With that you can take to LBS or look up online the correct type to buy. There are also other options to look at such resin, metallic, etc., and rotor/pads should match in that regard. I would consider this an easy to intermediate level of difficulty job. As always, if you don’t feel comfortable working on something yourself, take to your LBS. Brakes are very important and you want to make sure that all service/maintenance is done properly. There are plenty of videos already out there, but I enjoy making these types of videos and really, I find that I’m quite decent at explaining the mechanisms and naming the parts. I want to keep growing my channel and hope all of you enjoy the content. Thanks!
