Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back - Stage 3: Hang Eight (100% Completed)

Hang Eight is an upgraded version of Upstream & Up The Creek of the first Crash game. Looks like it's a pun on the phrase "Hang Ten", but maybe it's eight instead because Crash has the American cartoon standard of four fingers and toes. This time, Crash has two ways of dying in the water: If Crash falls straight into deep water, he'll just float there with his back submerged. It can't really be called a death, at all, BUT... If he gets sent underwater through a platform or hippo, he drowns in just a few seconds. Even Sonic could last much longer than that. It's shocking because it's probably the most realistic-looking death he can undergo in the whole game, despite it happening so unbelievably fast. One major feature of this level is the Jet-Board, or Jet-Boat. This lets him surf over the water a few times. It looks like Aku Aku's invincibility doesn't work with it. To get the challenge Gem of this level, rush to the end before time runs out. It starts as soon as you can move in the level, but it will show itself a little after you progress. Because I got the Blue Gem at Turtle Woods, it unlocked a Blue Gem platform I can use to reach a path that contains more crates that I can break to get the Clear Gem for breaking all of them. -------------- Another hologram cutscene appears after getting the Crystal of this level. Cortex is impressed with Crash's increased progress, but he can't talk with him much now because he's saving power on his hologram.
