Day Hike Skagen Denmark Buried Church Trail

While in Scandinavia for a funeral, we took the opportunity to hike to the Buried Church in Skagen, Denmark. It was a fairly easy 1/2 day hike from the city to the church. Mariners would visit the church before and after going to sea. They were gone so long on their voyages that sand would bury the entrances to the church. Upon their return, they would have to dig away the sand to enter it. Eventually, they had to acknowledge the effort was not something they wanted to do after being at sea for a long time.
