Every skilled player or technician knows that the speakers are key elements of the guitar’s tone chain. Nevertheless guitarists are generally more attracted to experiment with stomp-box pedals, pickups, tubes and other. This is quite ironic, if you consider that changing a speaker can determine a dramatic improvement of your amplifier’s performance and tone while being a relatively cheap and simple operation. In the last episode BTR#22, we’ve been experimenting a historically accurate upgrade of a 1969 Fender Twin Reverb with contemporary Jensen vintage reissue speakers. After the success of its vintage reissues, Jensen went above and beyond, starting to develop original designs and to use new materials.
