Monti - 'Czárdás' - Charles Gerhardt conducts

This lively music is a rhapsodical concert piece by the Italian composer Vittorio Monti. Written in 1904, it is based on a Hungarian 'csárdás' and was originally composed for violin, mandolin, or piano. Here is an orchestral arrangement played by the National Philharmonic under Charles Gerhardt. He was the producer of many 'Readers Digest' LPs and he also conducted several sessions himself. This particular recording dates from 1971 and was included in multi-LP 'Readers Digest' boxed set entitled "World of Music." The track heard here comes from a 'Chesky' CD reissue.
