Weekly Battle Rally #11: Ground Upgrade, 10350 Medals | Pokémon Masters EX

AT LONG LAST, A GOOD RUN! After two months of garbage seeds and Thorton torturing me, this run breaks both curses at once. Feeling #blessed [0:00] - Da Freebie Ground Upgrade is aight. I'd say Ground is the third weakest type after Bug and Normal. Poison managed to dig itself out of its trench with SS Roxie and Geeta. Ground has decent options but no one screams "efficiency" to me, even with Rika in the picture. [0:10] - Area 1: Strike + Tech This start nearly made me piss myself because it could be the same seed I rolled for two runs in a row. That knowledge killed my groove so I procrastinated this run for a few days. Coincidentally I also rolled this BC on Area 1 a couple weeks ago. This is Holiday Jasmine and Holiday Whitney's BC, and it asks for field effects to be in play. I used Maxie because he can leverage Solar Beam for supereffective damage. I ran Brendan and a Dire Hit All+ user to speed up the clear. In hindsight I should've spent SS Red here to free up the Strike + Tech rerun which is bound to happen later. I was in a bad mood so I wasn't thinking long term regrettably. [1:07] - Da Seed Things immediately looking up because this is actually the Strike seed. Bunch of Strike bonuses piled up all over the run, so that put me in a better mood. This seed lacks variety to be honest, but I do have a good chunk of double bonuses to spare. Granted, none activate the Ground Upgrade, which poses a concern for triple boosts in Areas 5, 7 and 8. [1:12] - Area 2: Strike + Support With the Fighting weakness I recalled the Wally + Nita tech. I think I showcased them at some point. Basically Nita is an excellent Wally enabler since his horizontal expansion because she gapfills Atk raises, Speedster's Sync and AoE Cakewalk. I can triple boost Strike + Support, but since this combo reappears later in the seed I dropped Penny so I had a slot available for the Ground Upgrade then. [2:28] - Area 3: Strike + Field Oh look Ground-weak Shauntal is back for more. I'm showing a preview of the Rika showcase because I'm still waiting on Lodge Rika. Spending a bunch of Ground-types in a single stage wasn't the smartest idea though - there are only so many Ground-type Strikers to spare for the Upgrade. [3:39] - Area 4: Tech + Sprint AAAAAND this run also rolled a Lucky Area lmao. What's more, the shop offers the Crit Upgrade my beloved. Doesn't get better than this folks. Well, Tech + Sprint is a role combo I'm lacking however. I can only toss Techs at it. Gyarados is my favorite Galarian starter. [4:07] - Area 5: Strike + Support Aight, my latest cake investment is NC Blue, because you can't go wrong boosting the best Support in the game. I'm forced to bring Zerena so I brought a Crit Support to spare Blue his TM in case I needed him next Area. [5:17] - Area 6: Strike + Field And good thing I saved Blue's TM. This is NC Rosa's BC. It has Acute Senses and Rebuffs is one of the easiest ways of managing that. I went with a Naomi-centric lineup because this is the last Area where I'll have the chance to actually show off Ground-type Strikers. [6:45] - Area 7: Support + Sprint Welcome to Upgradeless triple boost hell. Dedicated Rally players brute force through the lack of Upgrades, but I typically eat a point deficit because I'm impatient. This time I have the Crit Upgrade to back me up, so I went ahead with the Triple Boost. With my Sprint EX investments Paulo has to bulldoze through these. This team is funny because it stacks sync buffs at an extraordinary pace. [9:07] - Area 8: Strike + Tech The Floor is Lava Squad is back at it again. Due to my Area 1 blunder I was banking on a decent Upgrade or a Lucky Area to make it past this one with a triple boost, and the former was the case. [10:29] - Area 9: Strike + Field Can you believe this is the third time this role combo happens in this seed? Well, here is where I'm tossing my double bonuses. I mismanaged my Ground-type pairs so all I had left was SS Giovanni, Cynthia and Eggmons. Cynthia sounded more useful for Area 10 because I could partner her with NC Silver for Sand. [11:38] - Area 10: Strike + Sprint AND IT'S NOT THORTON!!! THE CROWD GOES WILD!!! Rei is a cop-out for Palmer but I was elated to have an easy run. Ramp go brrr. _____ The Eggmon Compendium: https://bit.ly/eggmoncompendium
