Hundreds of thousands of Syrians who've endured eight years of war are in the firing line of a new Turkish military offensive. Troops crossed the border into northeast Syria following air strikes targeting Kurdish forces. Turkey's leaders say the operation is aimed at clearing what they call 'terrorists', as well as creating a safe zone for displaced Syrians to live. The assault began after Donald Trump ordered the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the area, but the President denies abandoing Kurdish allies.
