Vasantha Ruthu Raagam Among all the Six Indian Seasons ‘Spring’ is considered to be the most pleasant. According to Indian Calendar it occurs during March/April that is following the Winter. As the spring season sets in, the earth looks lovely and charming. The trees put forth new leaves. The nature looks charming and many kinds of beautiful flowers bloom during this season. The lovely roses win hearts. It is therefore considered the best seasons and the most favourite to Poets. It is called the queen of seasons. As far as Telugu is considered, from Classical to Contemporary periods, poets wrote a number of poems in their monumental literary works describing the glory of ‘Spring’. Noted among them are two verses by Nannaya in the Adiparva of Mahabharatha, and the other by Bhattu Murthy in his magnum opus ‘Vasu Charithra’. Sri Chegondi Veera Venkata Satyanarayanamurthy, a versatile singer rendered these verses in his mellifluous voice adding his own commentary. I am honoured to present those poems in this edition. I thank Sri C.V.V.S.Murthy, his daughter Dr. Hemamalini and son Sri Chegondi Anantha Sriram in giving me this opportunity.
