If you look closely, you will see me fly over the Western Cascades, the Skagit River Valley, and eventually over the beautiful city and surrounding farm land of Mount Vernon, WA. I break overhead runway 25 at NAS Whidbey Island. Another beautiful day in the Pacific North West...aka "God's country". All in the day's work. Welcome to Oak Harbor. Hope you brought a jacket. Fly Navy! The answer to the question from the title is at time 2:50. ______________ Correction to the video: The Grumman A-6 Intruder served the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as their primary all-weather attack aircraft for more than 30 years. Brought into service during the Vietnam War, the Intruder saw action in every major crisis since, most recently the Gulf War. The aircraft immediately developed a reputation for reliability, durability and accuracy that persisted throughout its long years of service. Attack Squadron 196 became Whidbey’s first squadron slated to receive the A-6A on Nov. 15, 1966. The Intruder saw service in Vietnam, Libya, and Desert Storm. At one time, NAS Whidbey Island had as many as 125 A-6 aircraft. I accidentally edited this period out of my discussion on NASWI's history. ______________ If you like the video, please like, subscribe, and turn on notifications.
