Position Sensor - Disassembly and Inspection. MR2 Spyder SMT
This video shows how to cut open a bad position sensor and inspect. This sensor was contaminated with brake fluid (SMT system fluid). The strip was wet - and it tasted bitter. I think the brake fluid attacks the painted circuits and can make them crumble and flake loose from the mylar strip. This particular sensor turned out to have a broken conductor on the mylar strip which was easily spotted with a 10x loupe. I fixed it with a tiny swipe of conductive paint. Reassembled and glued the lid back on. Saved a $250 sensor!
