AUDAX | What is an Audax? - Riding my first Audax, Silly Suffolk 200km with ICENI VELO

FACEBOOK :   / andrew.goodchild.3538   STRAVA :   / strava   AUDAX - A long distance cycling event usually 200km in distance or more, usually ridden as a group of self sufficient riders. As an individual you are known as a randonnée. Its not a race, but there is a minimum time limit (15 kph ) to complete the course, which includes breaks for food, rest or repair. There is also a maximum speed imposed (30 kph )! The route is navigated by the group or individual using a route card, but often there are gpx files that can be down loaded or created for bike computers. There are several control or check points that must be passed through with the specified time window, where your Brevet Card will be marked with evidence that you passed through! - No cutting corners!!! Nutrition is an individual responsibility, as is bike mechanics and repair (although official rules allow the assistance of local Blacksmiths for the repair of a broken frame!!!). Food stops are usually included or marked on the route to assist in resupply. In this video I attempt my first Audax, the Silly Suffolk 200 km in October with my friends from ICENI VELO cycle club based in Norwick, UK. A great ride in favourable conditions. Setting out at 07:30 and completing it as the sun sets at 16:30! My thanks and gratitude to: Fellow Riders - Dave Bloom & John Swindells Event Organiser: John Thompson Further details can be found at: https://audax.uk/ Entry to this event was £6. I hope you enjoy the cycling footage and the Suffolk countryside. Thanks for watching.
