Amsterdam Pride was first organized in 1996, meant as a festival to celebrate freedom and diversity. The peak of the week long festival is during the Canal Parade, a parade of boats of large variety on the first Saturday of August, which usually goes over the Prinsengracht, the Amstel river. Amsterdam2024 pride parade consisted of 80 fabulous well curated floats and many other personal boats floating around the canals. The official floats were specific and themed with well choreographed song, outfits and dancing. Over half a million people were lined up on the canals to witness the spectacle. It is a joyous celebration color and art on the boats and audience, dancing and singing together, making it a big fest!
