iFi IDefender+ Review - Will It Fix My Studio Monitor Ground Loop Noise Problem?

This is a review of the iFi iDefender+ ground loop breaker. This is a USB 3.0 Ground Loop breaker that works with all USB-powered audio interfaces and can stop studio monitor noise problems related to ground loops, by breaking the loop and providing the audio interface with power from an independent source instead. Studio monitor noise and noise in audio setups are very common. The noise will often be buzz, hiss, and other electrical noise coming out of your studio monitors. It can also be computer noise, where you can kind of hear the computer working. Needless to say, there can be many causes of studio monitor noise, and in this video, I'll explain the most common reasons so that you'll know if the iFi iDefender+ will work for you or not. This will only work for USB-powered audio interfaces, which most interfaces are these days. However, if you have a firewire audio interface or one with an external 12v power supply, then this will most likely not work, so keep that in mind. Oftentimes, studio monitor noise is a result of ground loops originating in the monitor itself, or as a result of unbalanced signal cables, so you will have to do some troubleshooting to figure out the nature of your ground loop problem before you go ahead and buy anything.
