Trolling Motor vs. Pedal Power Which one has more torque? We are at the 2019 St. Louis Boat and Sportshow where we put these two kayaks head to head in a tug of war. Kayak Specs: Hobie Pro Angler 12 Length: 12’ Width: 36” Kayak Hull Weight: 105 lbs. Fully Rigged Kayak Weight: 128.5 lbs. Kayak Weight (as tested): 350 lbs. Propulsion: Mirage Drive w/ Turbo Fins Nucanoe Frontier 12 Length: 12’ Width: 41” Kayak Hull Weight: 73 lbs. Fully Rigged Kayak Weight: 160 lbs. Kayak Weight (as tested): 420 lbs. Propulsion: Minn Kota Terrova I-Pilot 55 lb. thrust Results: This was a much anticipated Tug of War. Everyone wasn’t sure how it would turn out. We were very impressed with the amount of torque the Mirage Drive had over the Trolling Motor.
