One legendary trail! 80km of coastal hiking from east to west! From Chora Sfakion to Elafonisi, passing by Loutro, Marmara, Agios Pavlos, Agia Roumeli, Domata, Trypiti, Sougia, Lissos, Gialiskari, Paleochora, Krios, Vienna, Pachia Ammoutsa and Kedrodasos. Exotic beaches, amazing scenes, iconic locations, remote villages! Come along for an epic hike, on the best and toughest trail on the island! This is the Cretan E4! In this chapter i hiked from the village of Paleochora to the beach of Elafonisi. From Paleochora you follow the asphalt road to Krios beach. I chose to drive this part. From Krios the E4 follows a nice route, passing by beautiful beaches. First you reach Vienna. Then you reach the chapel of Agios Ioannis and Pachia Ammoutsa with the incredible waters and sand dunes. Then Kedrodasos with the cedar tress and the golden sand. Eventually after 10km from Krios you get to Elafonisi, perhaps my favourite beach and one of the most exotic on the island. Getting here at sunset feels like a reward. After all this intense and long hike. This part of the E4 is very underrated, i consider it very beautiful. Wikiloc Trail : https://el.wikiloc.com/oreibasia-diad... Tips and Tricks : There is no water throughout this hike. Make sure to carry enough. Plan for your return from Elafonisi. You can either hike or arrange for a taxi boat. But keep in mind there is no bus connection to Paleochora, only to Chania. You can buy water at the canteen at Elafonisi for your hike back if you take this option.
