Sasha The Qat Collection version 2 Album Review

In this review, we look at Sasha's debut album from 1994 The Qat Collection. Sasha is one of the first superstar djs to come from the early nineties. Sasha is on the very first issue of Mixmag from 1991. As Sasha says he is first of all a dj and second a producer, but as you might see and hear that his musical prowess is truly evident on his first album. Chapters: 0:00 - 0:22 Welcome and Introduction 0:23 - 0:49 DJ First, Producer Second 0:50 - 1:06 Superstar DJ status and cover of Mixmag's first issue. 1:07 -1:25 Renown Sasha and Digweed DJ mixes and traveling world together. 1:26 -1:45 Creates mixes for Global Underground - San Francisco and Ibiza. 1:46 - 2:02 Sasha releases his seminal single Xpander Extended Play. 2:03 - 2:38 Usual progression of dance music producers vs. Sasha's progression 2:39 - 3:05 First impressions of beginning songs on album. 3:06 - 3:38 The Qat Collection and its 3 grounding Qat songs w/ Animal Qat's sonic experience. 3:39 - 4:02 Commercially driven songs vs. more artistic approach, and the influence of 1993's euro-dance explosion had on Sasha's 1994 album. 4:03 - 5:17 The year of 1993 and its many amazing releases spawning the Euro-Dance craze, like 2 unlimited's No Limits, Culture Beat's Serenity, Captain Hollywood Project's More and More, and U96's Love Sees No Colour. 5:18- 6:15 Europe's dance craze year of 1993, influenced Sasha's album in that it fell for some of the Euro-Dance vibes and singing. Overall the songs without singing stand out more as better produced. 6:16-7:58 DJ /producer Sasha real name is Alexander Coe born in the 60's. Another reviewer discounts his 1994 Qat Collection as not his true debut, rather Airdrawndagger to be his first debut album, which I disagree. 6:16 -7:05 Half of the album is mainstream euro-dance songs, the other half are well produced early trance, progressive house tracks. 7:06 - 10:08 The Qat Collection embraced the euro-dance craze from the prior year 1993 and also took hold of the future sounds, where you could say you'd be hearing the early stages of trance and very well produced progressive house. 10:09 - 12:00 I give my rating of the album, and reasons for the scoring. Music tastes in Europe vs USA around 1994. 12:01 - 13:21 Conclusion and Outro Please subscribe to my Sound of the Underground channel here for future album reviews:    / @soundoftheunderground   Hope you enjoy hearing my review.
