Extreme buffet transformation that I probably shouldn't have bothered starting.

OK, so i was at a charity shop a few weeks ago and the amazing sales lady managed to offload a van full of furniture on me. Among the pieces was this painted buffet/side board. I could see it wasn't anything special, very shabby and rudimentary in construction but I was still intrigued. As the paint layers came off I discovered it was worse than I had imagined, builders bog everywhere and joints you could drive a truck through, it was clear this thing had always had paint on, it wasn't a dodgy up-cycle project it was just dodgy. I seriously should have turned it into fire wood but something stopped me. The timber used is New Zealand Kauri, not swamp Kauri but Kauri non the less. when it was thrown together how ever many years ago the maker could have had no idea how expensive the raw timber would become. So bad was this build that it would have been impossible to hide all the flaws so i decided to celebrate them instead with a rustic look that enriches the historical holes and cracks of the timber.
