His hierarchy of needs model is very much consistent with Douglas McGregor's Theory Y (so do take a look at that video if you've not seen it:    • What are Douglas McGregor's Theory X ...  ). Maslow suggested we have a set of needs that he arranged in a hierarchy from the most basic biological needs up to the need to be the best person we can be - which he called 'self-actualization'. In the video we use a five-level version of his hierarchy of needs: - Physiological needs - Safety and security needs - Social and belonging needs - Esteem needs - esteem of others and self-esteem - Self-actualization There are issues, which we discuss, with this model.
