An informal video with some hopefully useful Fly Casting tips. Having just finished a 2 day Musky Fly Fishing Filming opportunity with Brad Bohen and Robert Thompson, there were a few things that stayed with me from the LONG weekend of Casting BIG flies. Belgium Cast: great tool for throwing Weighted Flies, and also finishing the backcast with the fly higher off the water. Stopping the Rod: Harder to do with a 10wt than you might think. Bend the Rod (loaded with potential energy), then STOP the rod (unload all the energy). Most don't stop it on a dime though, they simply slow down which causes the rod to begin unloading, but it fails to transfer all the energy and results in a limp open loop that a big fly will stop dead in its tracks!
