I've grown sweet potatoes in straw bales for several years. I've grown some large ones, but nothing like the largest one from this harvest. This one weighed about 6 pounds by itself, but there were also quite a few other sweet potatoes that I harvested from the same bale. I conditioned the straw bale with fertilizer to get it ready to plant, but after that, all it got was water on a regular basis.
