Hi everybody These are some of my early works, and as you can see, I have a thing for proportions. By the end of this exercise, you’ll understand how I created these pieces. We’ve already mentioned the basics of composition in two previous videos, and today we’re going to talk a bit further about something we only mentioned briefly: Proportions. As a beginner, the most important thing is finding your own style, which is your personal way of expressing emotions through your work. You don’t need to stick to realism, but even if you lean towards total abstraction, it’s essential to learn a few basic rules of proportion. Once you understand these rules, you will be able to break them with more purpose and creativity. We’ll be using birds as our subject for this exercise, but feel free to choose whatever inspires you most. Begin by selecting a good photograph. Simplify the image by breaking it down into basic lines and shapes. From there, start adding details. The level of realism, expression, or abstraction you will achieve will depend on how much detail you add to or dismiss.
